  1. Nochebuena says:

contains helpful tips to improve your game in easy to understand language. feels like you have your coach out there with you on the course.

  2. I don’t play golf, but got this as a gift for my mom who does; she loved it!

  3. This was a waste of money. The instructions were poorly written. The device itself kept switching numbers so that I could not set it properly. I do not recommend it.

  4. I was amazed at how easy the Medicus Power Meter was to setup and get working. I followed the instructions supplied for installing the batteries and attaching it to the club shaft. Turned it on, swung the club and read the speed from the large easy to read display.
It does not show speeds below 45 mph.

  5. AWESOME AND ACCURATE METER FOR THE PRICE. I RECOMMEND IT TO CLUBMAKERS ALL OVER TO PROPERLY MEASURE SWING SPEEDS.

  6. Buyers should be cautious about buying this product. The documentation is horrible, and the clips that hold the Powermeter around your golf shaft look like they will break with time — we’ll see. The Powermeter appears to work by measureing the centrifical force generated at the club grip. So you can get higher speeds depending on where the Powermeter is placed. However, the swing speed appears close to the figures I have seen in a golf shops, and the Powermeter is an inexpensive tool that can be used to measure swing speed over time.

  7. Medicus is a sketchy company. I ordered some products from them about 9 months ago and ended up returning them because I wasn’t using them much. All my money was refunded BUT now 9 months later a random $69 charge for “Golf Essentials” has appeared on my card. Currently going through the hassle of working this mess out. Do a web search to learn more about how common this sham is.

  8. I have used the medicus off and on for years. I find that when I get into trouble and can’t hit my irons right, practicing with the medicus greatly improves my swing. I have also given them as gifts to family members who golf.
I wouldn’t take the time to type this review if I honestly didn’t believe in this product.

  9. Useful Golf Swing Aid
It works in my garage – helps me focus on a full body swing and helps me de-emphasize the ball-striking impulse and arms only swings.

  10. I have read other reviews where people have said this straighted out their swing however, I did not like it. I am sure it works for some people but it just feels too odd for my taste. I am thinking about selling mine, brand new, only used once. It just wasn’t for me. I would rather keep buying range time.

  11. First, I will admit that the price is outrageous for this simple little piece of plastic (and the included DVD, which you can watch in advance on YouTube), but I tell you what, this thing absolutely does what it claims to do! After just a couple of practice sessions (swinging in the back yard), not only am I swinging on plane, but I am able to detect other swing flaws (like cranking my hips too early which opens the club face). Over a short period of time, I feel like I am naturally “in the groove” when I swing, and I am thinking less about all of the mechanics. This thing definitely helps to create muscle memory and the natural (and correct) feel for the golf swing. On my first golf outing after working 10 minutes for 5 consecutive nights with the Swingyde, I played the best golf I have ever played. My club face was square and I connected with the ball better than I ever have. (I generally shoot in the 110 range and on this last round, I scored 98). If you are handy with tools, you may be able to rig up something like this product, but for the rest of us, spend the $25 and get “on plane”. If the rating scale went to 10, I would rate this product a 10.

  12. This little plastic piece is very helpful. I have been hitting better shots that are straighter & sometimes i suprise myself with a draw. I think that it’s worth the investment if you are serious about playing better golf.

  13. Heidelberg says:

This is the first review I have ever given a golf product. My swing was slowly self destructing this year. I developed a fade that was getting worse and worse. After realizing that it was not the clubs, I tried a couple different training aids. Finally, I saw the reviews on the swingyde. I ordered it and tried it. At first, it was not correcting my swing and then I realized that I was not following the directions.

After watching the DVD and reading the instructions again, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Shortly after, I was swinging perfectly.

In a nutshell, this device puts you in a great position on the takeaway and then also puts you in a perfect position at the finish. For those of us who have trouble “releasing the club”, this is the answer. After 20 minutes, my muscles started memorizing the swing path. I have now been using it daily for 20 minutes a night inside (which is very relaxing after the kids go to bed). This swingyde is the real deal and I am telling my family and friends about it.

I had a question and emailed the creator of the swingyde in Australia and he emailed me back the same day. He is a great guy and very helpful. I can’t recommend it enough!

  14. My swing had deteriorated to the point I did not want to play. So I bought this product and a couple very good instruction manuals as well as a cheap hitting mat and some wiffle balls. The good news is that I am going to start playing again next week and I think my swing will be better than it ever was eventually.

While I do not think that the Swingyde itself solved my problems it was one of many building blocks in helping me understand and gain a feeling for a proper swing. For the price it is a good tool to have and one I will use occasionally for checking proper wrist hinge.

  15. Anyone that follows golf to any degree has probably heard about Stack and Tilt. Several PGA professionals have adopted the method to great success, the most prominent being Aaron Baddeley and former Masters champion Mike Weir.
The method challenges many of the golf swing truisms that we have all learned throughout our struggle to improve. Some weight should probably be given to stack and tilt simply because of the outrage displayed by the traditional golf swing gurus when confronted with new ideas.

Let me just say that while no method works for every body type and swing motion Andy and Mike have discovered a brilliant set of fundamentals for improvement. I can not speak highly enough about how these discs have changed my game. The first fundamental of any golf swing should be how consistent our ball to club contact is. Most mid to high handicap golfers hit behind the ball and until they are able to move their swing centers forward it is impossible to improve. Stack and Tilt gets the player striking the ball properly by moving the weight forward and keeping it there. The weight shift that has been taught forever is a challenging move for the player of average athletic ability. More often than not, they end up with the swing center so far back that they are unable to make a weight shift forward for solid ball contact. When the player is hitting the ball first there is a chance for improvement in path which addresses the most common problem for recreational golfers; the slice.

I have played golf for over 15 years and probably hit my plateau for consistency one year after I started. I have pounded balls for the remaining 14 years with almost no improvement. My search has included numerous lessons and countless books and discs. In short I am a nut for golf. Stack and Tilt has completely changed my golfing life. Understand that lower scoring involves much more than the full swing, but this frankly is the hard part of the equation.

Now for the bad part. While I could not be more enthusiastic about the content of these discs, the presentation is well below the standards of modern production values. The discs are really these two guys standing in front of a camera explaining the method. In many of the shots the background is a driving range with golfers hitting balls. A few very lame graphics and yellowing old golf swing images complete the package. No joke, my wife averts her eyes from the screen when she walks into the room and I have stack and tilt on. No instruction discs of any type could be more prosaic than these. Still, if you can get past the dullness, these guys are on to something brilliant. I would hope with the success of stack and tilt that a new version will come out, but in the meantime these discs are a vital part of any golfers library of instruction sources. Thanks Mike and Andy, you are flat out golf geniuses.

  16. This DVD is too complex, too much advanced theory, and these guys are as interesting and dynamic as watching grass grow. I actually fell asleep watching the 2nd DVD. The quality of the filming is poor. The technique is nothing more than an extreme reverse pivot. Beginners, high handicappers this is not for you, it will create more issues in the long run. Bottomline if you want to give it a try there is enough free information and instruction on line and in magazines to get you started. I can’t STRESS IT ENOUGH, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, DON”T MESS UP YOUR SWING WITH THIS. This DVD set sould be marked “FOR PROS ONLY”.

  17. Well put together teaching DVD. Great if you can make this swing work for you.
